If you aim to improve your brains performance, then Brain Gym and Meditation may be for you because both of these techniques are proven to quickly assist brain improvement by restoring balanced brain function.
First I’ll explain Brain Gym in relation to the brain. The brain
is actually physically divided into two sections, what are called the left and right hemispheres and it’s important for brain improvement and brain performance that both sides of the brain are used. Most people tend to use one side more than the other. It is said they a person is predominately left or right brain. To enable you to know which way you are inclined, here are the characteristics of each hemisphere:
- The right brain governs what is widely accepted as the more feminine characteristics – feeling, imagination, spatial perception, intuition, creativity, big picture awareness and the subconscious mind.
- The left brain hemisphere governs the more masculine characteristics – analyzing, thinking, logic, detail, factual interpretation, practically minded, language and the things we do consciously.
Brain Gym is the best exercise we know of to integrates both sides of the brain. It also supplies the body and brain with more oxygen. Brain Gym involves doing physical body exercises (which are simple exercises) to bring both hemispheres into sync. The exercises are actually fun to do as Brain Gym shows you clearly through doing them, how well both hemispheres are co-ordinated.
As you do the exercises you can actually notice an improvement in your physical co-ordination as the left and right side of the brain become integrated. Simply do a YouTube search for Brain Gym and this will give you some quick exercises for brain improvement which are fun to do.
The second way to improve brain function is through meditation. There are many forms
of meditation available, from using simple visualization based meditation CD’s/MP3′s,
to learning techniques such as Transcendental Meditation which can take years of practice and discipline. These meditation practices are well documented to quieten the mind while enhancing the cognitive function of the brain through achieving a state of restful alertness.
At the same time many beneficial hormones are released into the body and the levels of aging hormones are reduced. Therefore as well as brain improvement, meditation also has the benefits of keeping you more peaceful, healthy and young in mind and body!
Meditation works well at improving and balancing brain function because it activates the frontal and parietal regions of the brain which govern emotional equilibrium, focused attention and what they call executive function (an umbrella term for cognitive processes such as planning, problem solving, verbal reasoning and memory.) Therefore it’s a fantastic way to improve your brains functioning. The benefits also last way past the actual mediation practice period and can be maintained throughout the day by regularly repeating a few minutes of the meditation as you go about your day, or if you find yourself to be feeling stressed.
These two techniques, Brain Gym and Meditation have been found to be very helpful in improving brain performance. They are both backed by years of scientific research and in depth study worldwide. When these techniques are combined with some of the other tips we’ve mention, including reading the Good Grades Guide, you should be able to experience a noticeable improvement in brain performance and overall brain improvement.
